Mandela’s Law library is a comprehensive online law library licensed by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority to provide legal information which comprises mainly international laws, principal legislation, subsidiary, Samples, Case laws, Notes and other related documents.

The library is open to legal professionals including judges, Magistrates, State Attorneys, Advocates, Law Students and public at a large. Indeed it provides legal materials required for the purpose of research, reviews, private study as well as for use in courts and tribunals

(a) Law library is not a profit making basis. Any fee charged for this service is intended to cover costs incurred by the law librarian in providing the service

(b) Law library introduce cost sharing for improving services without affecting service delivery in terms of quality and extent of such service

Law library Functions

  • Managing law library operations, including monitoring budgets and allocating, organizing and disseminating legal resources.
  • Conducting in-depth research across a wide range of focuses including practice-specific areas of law, notes, reports and research and maintains databases on all the research carried out.
  • Conducting periodic reviews of new and existing electronic resources with an eye toward improved service and research efficiencies.
  • Promoting library services and resources to other departments, students, vendors, and the public.
  • Coordinating technical services and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Performing various cataloging procedures for law library resources
  • To keep up to date with legal news
  • To read legal opinions by judges to make sure you are up to speed with changes in legislation or case law
  • Providing the opinion to the qualified practitioners responsible for the case
  • To prepare research schedules, so work runs smoothly and deadlines are made clear
  • To analyze material to ascertain its truth worthiness
  • To foster production relationship and maintain contacts for future use.
